Eduardo da Silva broke his leg severely in a soccer match yesterday, after a brutal tackle by Martin Taylor of Birmingham City. da Silva required surgery and there is some question whether he will ever play soccer again. I don't follow soccer, but the video clip of this gruesome injury has generated millions of views on YouTube. 14 of the Top 20 most viewed clips for today are of the horrific injury. (More)

Sounds like the advice of industry folks. While it's no doubt true you want to put your best foot forward in your first album, there's also the need to strike while the iron is hot. The challenge for the artists discovered on YouTube -- Mia Rose is another that comes to mind -- is the huge lag time between being discovered and putting out the album.
